Every once in a while, you will find yourself with a battery that is either struggling to get your car, truck, or SUV started or has discharged completely. It is a bit of a hassle but it is an inevitability. Batteries only have a certain amount of charges in them.

If your battery is still functioning but just struggling, don't replace it just yet. There are a few things that you can do to try and extend its lifespan. Start by cleaning the cable terminals and battery posts. Over time these can get corroded with acidic buildup and affect the performance of your battery. You can also check the electrolyte level and add water to the fill holes if necessary. After doing this, check the charge and condition of the battery with a hydrometer.

If your battery still isn't performing after doing this, then it is probably time to get a new one. In that case, head on down to the service center here at McCafferty Ford of Langhorne in Langhorne, PA and let us change it out for you.
