What are the Brake Warning Signs?

Besides the brake warning light that will illuminate on your car's dashboard, there are three other major brake red flags you should pay attention to. These include:

• Loud Squealing Sound - If you hear a loud squealing sound whenever you slow down or stop, this is most likely a sign that your brake pads need to be replaced. Brake pads wear with use and will begin to scrape metal against metal when worn.
 
• Shuddering - Does your car shake or shudder when you use the brakes? If so, this could be a sign that your brake rotors are warped or damaged. You'll want to have them inspected and replaced if necessary.
 
• Spongy Brake Pedal - When you push down on the brake pedal, does it feel like it needs to go all the way to the floor before anything happens? This is a sign that your brake line needs to be checked. Something could be wrong with the brake line itself, or the brake fluid could be leaking or low.
